Understanding your options to temporarily pause your studies and how to properly resume your academic programme at Zanzibar University.
A student may apply to postpone his/her studies temporarily when unexpected life events prevent them from continuing academic work effectively. Zanzibar University considers postponement applications on a case-by-case basis.
Follow these steps to request a temporary pause in your academic registration.
Submit a letter addressed to the Dean of your Faculty or Director of Postgraduate Studies.
Attach supporting evidence (medical certificates, sponsor letters, etc.).
The request is reviewed and approved by the Senate through official channels.
Once approved, students must inform the University in writing of their intention to resume studies before the start of a new semester.
Important academic terms related to study interruption.
Postponement must occur before the official registration period. No resumption is permitted after the registration deadline.
Students should ensure postponement does not surpass their maximum study period.
Leaving studies without approval may result in discontinuation and loss of credits.
