Postponement of Studies

A student may request to postpone study when unexpected circumstances make effective academic participation temporarily impossible.

Each request is considered individually and must pass through official University channels.

  • Valid grounds may include prolonged illness, family emergency, national service or another serious circumstance.
  • Evidence such as medical documentation or sponsor correspondence must support the request.
  • The approved interruption must remain within the permitted study period.

Remaining away beyond an approved postponement period may be treated as self-discontinuation.

Request process

How to apply for postponement

Do not stop attending without first submitting and following up on an official request.

01

Write your application

Address the request to your Faculty Dean or the Director responsible for postgraduate studies.

02

Attach evidence

Provide medical certificates, sponsor letters or other documentation supporting the reason.

03

Await Senate approval

The application is reviewed through academic channels and decided by the University Senate.

Return to learning

Resumption After Postponement

Inform the University in writing that you intend to resume before the beginning of the relevant semester.

  • Process resumption through the Dean’s Office and receive formal registration clearance.
  • Re-register and settle outstanding academic or financial obligations.
  • Resume within the stipulated registration period to protect your student status.

An approved postponement does not harm the academic record when all resumption procedures are followed correctly.
