Every transfer is subject to academic evaluation, available capacity and approval by the relevant University and regulatory authorities.
External Transfer
Transfer from another recognised institution through the applicable national system.

Internal Transfers
A registered student may move from one programme to another within Zanzibar University, subject to academic performance and available space.
- Available across undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma and certificate programmes.
- The student must meet the minimum entry requirements of the new programme.
- Transfer is considered after completing at least one academic year or semester.
Final approval is granted by the University Senate following recommendation from the relevant Faculty or Institute.

The process depends on the level and type of programme being transferred.
Recognition of prior learning
Credit Transfers
Previously completed courses may be recognised when they are equivalent in content, academic level and learning outcomes.
- Credits must come from a recognised institution.
- Only a limited number of credits may be transferred.
- The final decision rests with the University Senate.
Credit recognition does not automatically reduce the minimum time required to complete a programme.
Application process
Three stages to a transfer decision
Submit complete and accurate records to support timely evaluation.

Provide a formal application and all required academic documents.

Academic evaluation
The relevant academic unit evaluates eligibility, equivalence and capacity.

Final approval
Complete University Senate and applicable TCU or NACTVET approval.
