The Faculty of Business administration (FBA) at Zanzibar University (ZU) in was established
in 1998 followed by the graduation of 1st batch of Bachelor of Business Administration (in
Accounting / Marketing) to which total of 100 students graduated at its first batch from
both fields in 2002. Since then, other programmes such as Bachelor of Business Information
Technology (BBIT) and Bachelor of Procurement and Logistic (BPL) was established in 2008 and
2013 respectively.
Under constant supervision of Business Administration in both fields, various non-degree
programmes such as Certificate and Diploma in Business Administration was established
followed by Masters of Business Administration. Our graduates find employment in different
public and private institutions in the respective discipline.
To date the faculty has produced more than 7900 graduates in field of Business
Administration, meanwhile about 90% have been employed in different sectors, and some have
opened their own businesses and few remained unemployed. The intake of students in Business
Administration has been increased in each year where this academic year 2023/2024 the
faculty has enrolled more than 300 students compared to other faculties.
The Faculty is also expected to launch more postgraduate degrees to the near future, such as
that of PhD in Business Management, a Master's degree in Marketing and Tourism, Master in
Logistics Management and Transportation, Master's degree in Petroleum Management and
Promotion, Master in Tax Management and Master's degree in Tourism Management.
Nevertheless, the faculty is keen to provide a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and
Information Technology, Bachelor of Business Administration in Digital Marketing, Bachelor
of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and Bachelor of Marketing and Tourism.
