Faculty Overview
FoE is a faculty of engineering which belongs to Zanzibar University which is a private
University in Zanzibar which endeavours to promote discovery and application of knowledge,
the acquisition of skills and the development of intellect through numerous cooperative
engagements with other academic institutions.
FoE was established in the academic year 2012/2013 with only 14 students. Before
restructuring FoE had two departments namely: department of Computer Engineering and
department of Telecommunication Engineering. Now FoE has more than 50 students in both
departments. Currently, after the restructuring the FoE has introduced two new departments
namely: Department of Engineering and Computing, and Department of Informatics.

To achieve excellence in Electronics and Communication engineering and Informatics through
quality education, research and project contributing to the emerging technologies and
innovation to serve industry and society.
Mission
To enhance the teaching-learning process by implementing innovative practices to create
globally competent engineers.
To strengthen research culture providing sustainable solutions in the domain of
Communication, Signal Processing and VLSI for the benefit to industry
To inculcate professional ethics, values and entrepreneurial attitude addressing needs of
industry and society.
Pushing the boundaries of knowledge, nurturing aspiring leaders and fostering strategic

Research & Facilities
Teaching and learning are enhanced through hands-on laboratory work, industrial training, research projects, and collaboration with industry, enabling students to apply engineering principles to real-world challenges. Graduates of the Faculty of Engineering are well prepared for careers in construction, manufacturing, energy, ICT, transportation, automation, and research, as well as for entrepreneurship and advanced studies.
